This paper proceeds from the viewpoint that designers are, in trade parlance, "content people" or "creative capital," not mere technicians nor window dressers. Designers are not likely to be replaced by templates; indeed, designers are needed to design the templates, and when each round of templates is exhausted we will look to designers to create templates that feel new, or perhaps function better that those that preceded them, in ways that we cannot currently foresee.
