As an assistant professor at Texas Woman’s University School of Library and Information Studies, my specialties are children’s and young adult literature and school librarianship. My main areas of research at this time are the role of Protestant Christianity in modern young adult realistic fiction (subject of dissertation), children’s choice books awards, and training teachers to use the library and to collaborate with the librarian in order to improve academic achievement. I have an MLS from Texas Woman’s University and a PhD from Rutgers University. I have recently been appointed to two American Association of School Librarians (AASL) committees: ICONnect Committee and AUP Book Selection Committee. I have been a book reviewer for School Library Journal since 1996.
