Wilson is an instructor of communication at Tennessee Technological University in
Cookeville, Tennessee, and has been teaching journalism courses and advising the campus newspaper for six years. She has a bachelor of science degree in English-journalism and a master of science in mass communication. She is
currently working on her Ph. D. in education/literacy. Her research interests are media and visual literacy and media and democracy issues related to the information age, including the digital divide.
