Daytona Beach College (DBC) is a public, state-supported, four-year college, located on the east central coast of Florida. It offers programs ranging from occupational and vocational certificates to associate degrees and the Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) degree. The University of Central Florida (UCF) opened a regional campus facility on the DBC campus in 1986. On the Daytona Beach campus, UCF now offers 15 bachelor’s degrees, 7 master’s degrees, and one doctoral program. Since 1986 the library at DBC has been a joint-use facility. Each library purchases materials from separate budgets. Each institution has an acquisitions and technical services department. When selecting books for purchase, the UCF and DBC librarians work together to choose materials that will support the programs offered by both institutions at the Daytona campus. Librarians work with their respective faculty to ensure that all classes are supported and faculty have the materials needed. This paper will discuss both the challenges and successes in collection management at this joint-use library.
