Jen Smith graduated with a B.A. (magna) in English and Philosophy from Linfield College, Oregon, U.S.A., and an M.A. (honours) in Literature and Publishing from the National University of Ireland, Galway. She has edited newspapers, magazines, and books and is now working on a Ph.D. at NUI, Galway. She is interested in artefact books, a particular type of artists' book works that use both text and substance--paper and ink in the broadest sense--to realise their meaning(s).
